The technology of 3D printing is changing the world by making manufacturing more advance and reliable to use. Today, anyone can make anything at home by using 3D printing technologies like 3D pens and 3D printers.
It all started with figuring out ways to facilitate proficient rapid prototyping when Herbert Voelker made the first mathematical model in 1980 describing the three-dimensional parts of a system. Using this mathematical model, Chuck Hall made the first 3D printer. After that this technology has been evolving either by implementing different systems or advancing its portability. The technology of 3D printing pen makes building of objects so easy that anybody at home can create anything.
The first 3D printing pen is developed by Maxwell Bogue and Peter Dilworth in 2012 which is known as 3Doodler. Due to its portable design and lighter weight, people started using it for modification and creation of 3D objects. The 3Doodler can be used on any surface to draw design of any color or size. It is one of the best features of 3D printing pen creating it as an effective technological device. You can draw anything with 3D printing pen but all you need is imagination for formation of designs. The 3D printing pen basically consists of a heating element, an extruder and a cord each for different function.
The Heating element, also known as electric heater, is used for heating the plastic that later comes out of it, the extruder works on ejection of molten plastic out of it and the cord supplies power in the form of electrical energy. Other than these elements, there are external accessories that also come with a 3D pen.
Most of the 3D printing pen like 7tech Mall works on the principle of heating plastic that quickly solidifies after it has been extruded. This principle was previously used for making glue guns but later it was applied in the process of building 3D printing pens. This process is employed in different ways either by extruding molten plastic out of heated nozzle or employing photopolymer that solidifies in contact with UV rays.
These processes come under the category of Fused Deposition Modeling which is a field of manufacturing that studies the behavior of molten material. Most 3D pens use the first process to eject the molten plastic out of nozzle but there are some manufactures that utilize the second process which is preferable if they are creating 3D printing pen for children. While the second process uses LED nodes to solidify the photopolymer the liquid ink is extruded through same nozzle. The LED nodes counteract the heating process which protects the child from getting burnt. As the liquid photopolymer is exposed to Ultra violet light it get solidified into a fixed structure that supports the entire model designer creates.
The heated plastic hardens quickly into a strong and stable structure as it leaves the nozzle allowing the designer to draw shapes with ease. The plastic filament that is fed into the 3D printing pen is either Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene or PLA i.e. polylactic acid. These two are the most used thermoplastic material in the entire world due to their property of colour retention and secure designs. Other than that they are also recyclable thus eco friendly to use. This material adds the feature of versatility to 3D printing pen. There are other features of this pen like speed control and temperature setting. It simplifies the process of building larger 3d objects especially for professional users.

The applications of 3D printing pen are so infinite that their efficiency to draw, fabricate and create anything in the air or any surface is apparently well appreciated. You can use them to create 3D models, to modify and repair 3D objects to decorate gadgets and much more. The 3D pen can create anything from mini Eiffel tower to a car’s model. Advances in Additive Manufacturing have changed the world of manufacturing. Today, we have materials like plastic, polyactic acid and photopolymers to create objects and 3D models but in future, 3D printing technology will become more reliable, less expensive and faster to use.
By that time, every industry in the field of manufacturing would have started employing 3D printing technologies like 3D printers and pen for creation and building of objects. It will transform into a revolutionary yet accessible technology that will enable anyone to create high size structures like bridges and factories with ease. 3D printing technologies are improving the manufacturing processes by making it available to everyone. Whether you are a hobbyist or a professional artist you can use them to enhance your inner creativity. It has given the world the power to imagine and create unique objects that can be used for variety of purposes. Soon, it will modernize the entire service sector from medical industry to automobile by increasing their capacity to produce and create. Have Fun Building!!!!!!!!!!!
